Lasered 2D Examples

Lasers can be used to etch, mark, engrave or cut the surface of a work piece. Compared to other methods, lasers have many advantages over mechanical, but it also has some disadvantages. For example, it is extremely precise, but equipment costs are often prohibitive. This technology is useful for many applications and utilizes many materials. Lasering methods vary, depending on the type of work and material, which means that different types of laser equipment is sometimes required. Note: As far as lasers are concerned, cutting below the surface, with no contours (2D), is regarded as either etching or engraving but, if the laser is required to cut below the surface with contours (2.5D - 3D) it can be regarded as a kind of “sudo-carving”.   The use of Laser Engraving is based on the production of specific designs. The type of design dictates the method and the term applied to it. Custom Laser work can include industrial marking of a product. This can include duplicating images or customizing images at nearly any image quality. High-quality engraving is more costly than low-quality engraving! Because of the wide range of materials that can be used, lasers also can be used for artistic work such as the 2D examples above.
